It all began as an inspired idea in 2001 while waiting in line at an airport checkpoint. Recognizing a seismic shift in the way we consume media, the sales and marketing veteran identified an opportunity that would improve the airport security process and simultaneously satisfy the growing desire for marketers to intercept hard-to-reach consumers. Joe drafted a plan on the back of a napkin and SecurityPoint Media was born.
Ambrefe pioneered his vision through the development and implementation of the company’s patent protected media offerings. As President and Chief Executive Officer Joe guides company strategy to drive growth and value. Under his leadership, SecurityPoint Media has evolved from a start-up venture to a formidable force in alternative media and respected member of the airport security community. The company completed a strategic investment from the Raptor Group in 2011 to poise the company for continued growth and diversification.
Joe is widely recognized for his advertising industry thought leadership and contributions to alternative media. He has been featured in national news outlets such as USA Today, Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, CNN, Nightline and MSNBC. He is an active member of the American Advertising Federation, the Airports Council International and the American Association of Airport Executives and a frequent guest speaker at industry events and national conferences.
Prior to founding SecurityPoint Media Joe served in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries where he successfully built early stage ventures into world-class, highly profitable business units.
Joe holds a degree in Hospital Administration from Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT.
Vice President, Operations
Mr. Linehan manages SecurityPoint Media’s manufacturing and supply chain operations and maximizes the enterprise-wide effectiveness of the SecureTray System. He also oversees the company’s sales initiatives and commercial commitments.
Prior to co-founding SecurityPoint Media, Mr. Linehan served nearly 20 years developing his expertise in sales, marketing and contracting. A graduate of the University of Maine, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.
Chief Financial Officer
Ms. Smithson brings more than 30 years of accounting, tax and advisory experience to her role as SecurityPoint Media’s CFO. Prior to joining the company, she served six years as CFO of Doctor’s Walk-in Clinics Inc., where she focused on financing and merger and acquisition strategies. Her efforts there led to significant revenue growth for the company which was ultimately acquired in a multi-million dollar transaction.
A Certified Financial Planner licensed by the CFP Board of Standards (Denver, Colo.), Ms. Smithson is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She also serves on several professional, private company and civic organization boards of directors and was a finalist for the Ernst & Young/St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce 2006 Business Woman of the Year award.
